Poppies

Inspired by watercolour art

Inspired by the delicacy of watercolour painting, this design was created for a client who wanted her splashback to echo a favourite artwork hanging nearby. To capture the fluid lightness of brushstrokes in glass, I developed several samples and experimented with different techniques before finalising the approach. Layers of powdered glass were used to build soft textures and subtle shading, allowing the poppies to retain their vibrant colour while appearing light and airy. The result is an elegant, painterly splashback that feels both personal and uplifting.
